Homemaker and Home Health Aide Care

The VA's Homemaker and Home Health Aide Care program can help eligible veterans with daily activities at home. A VA social worker or care team can explain how to request an assessment and whether a community provider may be used.

Respite Care for Family Caregivers

VA Respite Care may provide temporary support when a family caregiver needs a break. The type and amount of care depend on the veteran's assessment and what is available locally.

Aid and Attendance Is a Separate Benefit

VA Aid and Attendance or Housebound benefits are pension-related benefits with separate eligibility rules. They are not the same as a VA referral for homemaker, home health aide, or respite services. Contact VA to check current requirements and payment amounts.
