1. Choosing a Caregiver: Our Hiring Process

Every prospective employee undergoes a thorough screening process before being offered a position with Sunlight Care.

Our rigorous screening process evaluates each applicant's:

Every Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) applicant must successfully pass a written examination, a hands-on skills competency test, a drug screening, and the New Jersey Board of Nursing criminal background investigation. We also verify each applicant's employment history and references. Finally, every caregiver must complete a physical examination and provide proof that they are free of tuberculosis. We are confident you will be impressed by the professionalism and compassion of our caregivers.

2. Insured and Bonded Caregivers

• Every Sunlight Care employee is covered by workers' compensation insurance, so you and your family are not liable if an employee is injured while providing care.
• Each employee is bonded for $10,000.
• Sunlight Care is fully insured. We carry General and Professional Liability Insurance with coverage limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $3,000,000 aggregate. We also maintain $1,000,000 in non-owned automobile liability insurance.
• Sunlight Care does not use independent contractors, as this is not permitted under New Jersey law for home care services. We pay all required employer payroll taxes and insurance premiums, including workers' compensation coverage. If one of our employees is injured on the job, they are fully protected, and you have no financial responsibility.

3. Home Health Care Supervision

Every client receiving personal care is evaluated by a Registered Nurse (RN) to determine the level of care required. A personalized care plan is then developed to meet the client's individual needs. Once the care plan is established, a qualified Home Health Aide is carefully selected and oriented to the client's specific care requirements by a Registered Nurse. Sunlight Care's Home Health Aides are supervised by Registered Nurses, and each client's plan of care is reviewed in person at least every 60 days, or sooner if the client's condition or needs change.
